Letter from Nairobi:

An African Election is an African success story, at times it seems fictional, yet it is a true documentation of a successful election in Africa. It paints
a new picture for an African like me who has been a victim of poor democracy and since the inception of multiparty elections in Kenya in 1992.

Kenya is now 50, yet in all its years, every election has been marred by violence, a situation reflected in many African countries. Poor governance, lack of education and greed are some of the reasons Africa continues to lag behind economically yet the people cry for change. With the inauguration of a new constitution in 2010, Kenyan's are more hopeful yet the idea of a 50+1% win remains an alien concept.

The idea of peaceful elections to many Kenyan's is just an illusion, yet in the film 'An African Election' it comes to life. I believe the film is a must watch for every African and especially when the country runs the risk on a run-off. In screening the film to rural areas and slums, which were the most affected in the 2007 PEV. The film is a vivid representation of democracy, peace and tolerance in our homeland Africa. The film inspires peace and serves as the best example to the Kenyan community against violence yet its language remains simple and clear even to the illiterate.
